JHC Consulting provides counsel to boards and chief executives on matters of strategy and governance. Our approach is founded on the discipline of the written word, as we believe clear writing is the only way to ensure clear thinking. We avoid presentations and instead focus on rigorous analysis that results in signed memoranda. We are currently supporting a mandate for a major Austrian financial infrastructure partner, assisting them in refining their internal delivery processes. This Junior Scrum Master role is a full time, permanent position for an individual who is ready to facilitate project delivery while maintaining the intellectual standards of our firm. The position is fully remote, allowing for deep work and focused reading without the distractions of a traditional office.

The Role
As a Junior Scrum Master, your work centers on the flow of information and the clarity of commitments. While many firms treat the Scrum Master role as a ceremonial one, at JHC Consulting, we view it as a function of intellectual rigor. You will work within our partner engagement to ensure that development work remains aligned with the stated strategic goals of the board. Your daily tasks involve facilitating technical rituals, identifying blockers, and ensuring that the work is documented with precision.
You will be expected to:

Facilitate daily updates and planning sessions for technical workstreams.

Draft summarized reports on progress that avoid jargon and provide a plain read of the current status.

Coordinate between different workgroups to ensure that assumptions are tested and risks are identified early.

Maintain the backlog of tasks, ensuring that every entry is written with enough clarity that it could stand alone as a formal instruction.

Observe team dynamics and provide written feedback on how to improve the quality of delivery.

Assist in the preparation of project documentation that our principals use for their final memoranda.

What You Bring
This is an entry level role suitable for a recent graduate or someone early in their career who understands the fundamentals of project management and delivery. We are looking for candidates who value logic and clarity over personality and volume. You do not need years of professional experience, but you must demonstrate a capacity for critical thinking and a high standard of written English.

Basic familiarity with Scrum frameworks or Agile principles, perhaps through university studies or initial internships.

The ability to write concise, professional prose that requires minimal editing.

A logical mind that can break down complex institutional problems into smaller, manageable tasks.

Comfort with remote technology and the self discipline required to work independently.

An interest in the financial sector, specifically in how large scale infrastructure projects are managed and governed.

A willingness to challenge assumptions and ask for clarity when a task or goal is poorly defined.

How We Work
JHC Consulting is a small and deliberate firm. We do not participate in routine management consulting ceremonies and we never produce slide decks. Our work is the document. Every engagement results in a signed memorandum where the author takes individual responsibility for the analysis and the recommendations. In this role, you will support this model by ensuring that the operational data we rely on is accurate and well ordered. We value the single author model, meaning that while we discuss ideas, the person who writes the page owns the page. This creates a high degree of accountability and requires every member of the firm to be a proficient reader and writer.

Working at JHC Consulting
We operate as a fully remote firm. We believe that professional work should be judged by the quality of the output rather than the hours spent in an office. This position offers a competitive salary that is attractive for an entry level role in the current market, along with the stability of a permanent, full time contract. Because we accept only a limited number of mandates each quarter, our team members have the time to go deep into the analysis and produce work that has lasting value for our clients. You will have significant autonomy over your daily schedule, supported by a structure that prizes quiet focus over constant conversation.
The firm provides a professional environment where intellectual curiosity is rewarded. We expect our staff to be self directed and to take pride in the signatures they put on their work. As you grow in the role, you will have the opportunity to take on more complex analytical tasks and contribute more directly to the memoranda we provide to our partner in the Austrian financial infrastructure sector. Our firm is built on the belief that a small group of disciplined thinkers can provide more value than a large army of generalists.
