Reporting Specialist

About Alpine Business Consulting
Alpine Business Consulting is a specialized team that steps in when enterprise performance management and reporting systems fail to deliver. Many organizations invest heavily in complex planning tools only to find that the initial implementation left them with mismatched numbers and a month-end close process that takes weeks rather than days. We fix those systems or build new ones from scratch using a clear, technical approach. Our consultants bring years of experience with Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, and modern analytics stacks to ensure our clients have a single source of truth they can actually rely on.
We are currently supporting a partner, a large group based in Hamburg, as they overhaul their internal reporting structures. This project requires careful attention to how data moves from their core systems into the hands of their decision makers. As a Reporting Specialist, you will help us ensure that the data presented in their dashboards and financial statements is accurate, clean, and well documented. This is a permanent, full-time position that is fully remote, allowing you to work from wherever you are most productive.

The role
The Reporting Specialist role is designed for someone at the start of their career who wants to understand how large scale financial reporting actually works. You will not be left to figure things out on your own. Instead, you will work directly with our senior consultants to support the Hamburg project and other client engagements. Your main focus will be the integrity of the information. When a system is implemented poorly, the biggest casualty is trust in the numbers. Your job is to help us rebuild that trust through rigorous data verification and clear report configuration.
Because we operate as a fully remote team, communication and documentation are the two most important tools in our kit. You will spend your time checking data sets, building report layouts, and writing the configuration guides that our clients use to stay independent after we leave. The pay for this position is competitive for the market and reflects the importance of the work you will do in supporting our project teams.

What you will do

Review financial and operational data sets to identify inconsistencies or errors before they reach the final report.

Assist in the configuration of dashboards and automated reports within EPM and BI tools.

Maintain the single source of truth by verifying that numbers in the reporting layer match the source systems.

Create and update technical documentation that explains how specific reports are built and where the data comes from.

Collaborate with senior consultants to translate client requirements into functional report designs.

Format financial presentations and internal documents to ensure they are professional and easy to read.

Monitor data loads and scheduled tasks to ensure reports reflect the most recent information available.

Test new reporting features to ensure they work as intended before they are handed over to the client.

What we are looking for

A basic understanding of data structures and how information flows through a business.

Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use basic formulas and organize data logically.

Comfortable working with numbers and a high level of attention to detail when comparing different sets of information.

The ability to write clear, plain English documentation that a non-technical user can follow.

A curious mindset and a willingness to ask questions when something in the data does not look right.

Reliability in a remote setting, including the ability to manage your own schedule and meet project deadlines.

Previous exposure to SQL or business intelligence tools is helpful but not required for this entry level role.

Recent graduates or those looking to pivot into data analytics and financial reporting are encouraged to apply.

What we offer
Working at Alpine Business Consulting means escaping the typical corporate bureaucracy. We value transparency and predictability. We provide fixed-price quotes to our clients and we bring that same level of honesty to our team. You will have the chance to learn from senior professionals who have seen every implementation mistake in the book. We do not use client projects as a training ground for junior staff to wander aimlessly. You will have specific tasks, clear guidance, and the support you need to build a foundation in enterprise reporting. Since this is a fully remote role, you will have the autonomy to structure your day while remaining an essential part of a focused, professional team.
Our goal is always a clean handover. We want our clients to be self-sufficient, and that starts with the work you do. By ensuring their systems are properly configured and their teams are well-trained, we provide lasting value. As you grow in this role, you will gain a deep understanding of how global organizations manage their performance and how technology can be used to provide a clear, honest picture of business health.
