They have just raised strong funds and are now looking to grow. They build advanced AI and data platforms for clinical diagnostics, focusing on transforming complex medical data. They are looking for a Founding Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their team.</p><p><br/></p><p>As the founding Machine Learning Engineer, you will own the development of the core algorithms powering our AI platform. This high-impact role sits at the intersection of computer vision, engineering, and product, and is responsible for driving execution of the R&D roadmap from research through to production.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><p><br/></p><ul><li>Develop, validate, and document deep learning models that extract molecular-level signals from whole slide images</li><li>Lead end-to-end experimentation, including hypothesis design, testing, and iteration, while maintaining focus on critical delivery timelines</li><li>Work closely with clinical, product, and business teams to translate requirements into clear model and data specifications</li><li>Partner with data engineering to design scalable, compliant, and traceable data pipelines supporting model development and deployment</li><li>Contribute to the evolution of the AI platform, including model integration, optimization, and production deployment workflows</li><li>Build explainability and interpretability methods to support clinical validation and trust in model outputs</li><li>Support generation of clinical evidence required for regulatory approval and commercial deployment</li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><p><br/></p><ul><li>PhD in Computer Vision, Biomedical Image Analysis, or a related field</li><li>Strong Python skills and proficiency in at least one deep learning framework (e.g., PyTorch or TensorFlow)</li><li>4+ years of industry experience in computer vision, including:</li><li>Image segmentation, object detection, and feature extraction on large-scale or high-resolution datasets (e.g., whole slide images)</li><li>Designing and implementing at least one novel deep learning architecture applied to real-world problems</li><li>2+ years of experience working with cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and production-grade model deployment</li><li>Strong experience working in collaborative codebases, with solid Git and version control practices</li><li>Strong documentation habits and attention to code quality and maintainability</li><li>Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in English</li><li>Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, remote environment</li><li>Valid Swiss work permit and willingness to travel when required</li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>Strong plus:</strong></p><p><br/></p><ul><li>Experience in digital pathology or medical imaging</li><li>Background in biology or understanding of cell morphology</li><li>Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., FDA, CE marking)</li><li>Experience with explainable AI and model interpretability techniques</li></ul><p><br/></p><p>Following your application Joe Templeman, a specialist AI recruiter will discuss the opportunity with you in detail.</p><p><br/></p><p>He will be more than happy to answer any questions relating to the industry and the potential for your career growth.
