HafenCity Hamburg GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, responsible for the development management of HafenCity, one of Europe's largest inner-city urban development projects. The company's tasks include site clearing and preparation, planning and building public spaces and infrastructure, and contracting real estate developers. It also manages the "special city and port fund" to finance public infrastructure through land sales. Additionally, the company has expanded its responsibilities to include the development of other urban areas like Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld, Billebogen, and Grasbrook.
