In short: shaping FinTech.<br/><br/><strong>We are looking for a <br/><br/></strong><strong>Tech Unit Lead – Collection (m/f/d)<br/><br/></strong><strong>(unlimited, full-time) to join our team at our Berlin, Baden-Baden and Verl locations to build the next generation of fintech.<br/><br/></strong>As Tech Unit Lead for Riverty, you will own the long‑term technical and architectural direction of your domain and ensure that systems are secure, scalable, and future‑ready. You partner closely on eye-level with Product and Business leaders to shape strategy, align technology investments with value, and deliver customer‑centric and resilient outcomes.<br/><br/>Reporting directly to our COO, you will lead multiple cross‑functional teams, strengthen engineering excellence, and foster a culture of transparency, learning, and empowerment. As a key voice in enterprise‑level technology and architecture discussions, you ensure alignment with group‑wide objectives while driving modernization, governance, and operational reliability within your domain.<br/><br/><strong>Your key responsibilities will be:<br/><br/></strong><ul><li>Define and own the long-term technical and architectural vision for your domain, ensuring scalability, compliance, auditability, transparency, and security by design. Shape the technology strategy including thoughtful modernization, lifecycle management, reduction of fragmentation, and sound build/buy/modernize/retire decisions while leveraging relevant industry, fintech, and regulatory trends.</li><li>Build a deep, strategic partnership with Product and Business leadership, acting as a trusted thought partner to co-shape roadmaps, align technology investment with business value, and ensure joint accountability for customer-centricity, operational excellence, and domain- wide outcomes. Represent your unit in enterprise-level technology and architecture forums and ensure alignment with groupwide objectives.</li><li>Lead and empower multiple cross-functional engineering teams through a modern, humancentric leadership culture grounded in performance, recognition, learning, and change openness. Attract, develop, and mentor senior technical talent; promote collaboration, strategic clarity, and high-performing team dynamics.</li><li>Ensure the end-to-end health, reliability, and resilience of platforms and services, safeguarding availability, performance, security, privacy, and incident response readiness through robust technical controls, monitoring, and continuous improvement practices. Embed strong cybersecurity and privacy principles throughout architecture, development, and operations.</li><li>Drive technical governance, engineering excellence, and organizational efficiency, setting standards and operating models that enable fast, reliable delivery with sound oversight. Manage budgets and vendors responsibly and strengthen performance measurement and development effectiveness by actively leveraging AI to enhance software quality, delivery velocity, and team productivity.<br/><br/><br/></li></ul><strong>What we expect:<br/><br/></strong><ul><li>Education: A university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field</li><li>Experience: Senior technology leadership experience in complex, regulated environments (fintech, banking, payments, insurance, or large-scale platforms), with a track record of leading multiple teams and delivering mission critical systems.</li><li>Expertise: Deep understanding of modern software architecture, platform thinking, SDLC, and engineering best practices, combined with strong architectural judgment and experience modernizing legacy systems.</li><li>Leadership: Proven track record of leading multiple teams or departments, driving architectural change, and delivering mission-critical systems while enabling a self-reliant leadership team through guidance and fostering a sense of ownership.</li><li>Curiosity: Strong interest in developing expertise in collection, risk, compliance, and their regulatory and technical implications.</li><li>Culture: </li><li>A strategic thinker who drives excellence while questioning the status quo, embraces change, and acts as a cultural role model in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Personality: Clear, transparent communication while building trust at executive level and providing structure and direction, pairing strategic thinking with pragmatic execution – complemented with fluent English and German language skills.<br/><br/><br/></li></ul>Equal Opportunity Employer Statement<br/><br/>We want to be a fair and inclusive employer.
