Our mission is to reduce administrative workload in healthcare so caregivers can spend more time with patients.</p><br/><p>We are looking for a high-agency Python Software Engineer, Backend &amp; APIs to help us improve and scale the backend systems behind our products. The role focuses on Python, databases, external APIs, cloud infrastructure, testing, validation, and production reliability.</p><br/><p>You will work on backend systems that connect dexter health with third-party healthcare software providers. These systems synchronize and validate operational data used in real care workflows.</p><br/><p>External APIs are inconsistent, data models are messy, and edge cases are common. We need someone who is fast, sharp, and ownership-driven: someone who reads unfamiliar code, debugs production issues, finds root causes, and ships robust fixes quickly without waiting for detailed instructions.</p><br/><p>This is a shared-ownership role, not a ticket-taking role. You will work closely with the existing team, but we expect you to take real responsibility for improving backend stability and delivery speed.</p><br/><p>You will work daily with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar. We expect you to use these tools seriously, not casually.</p><br/>Tasks<br/><p>As our Python Software Engineer, Backend &amp; APIs, you will:</p><br/><ul><br/><li>Develop and maintain backend systems written in Python</li><br/><li>Work heavily with databases, data models, and external APIs</li><br/><li>Build and improve integrations with third-party healthcare software providers</li><br/><li>Work with REST APIs, authentication, webhooks, pagination, retries, rate limits, and edge cases</li><br/><li>Maintain data transformation, validation, and synchronization logic</li><br/><li>Debug production issues, data inconsistencies, sync failures, and API problems</li><br/><li>Improve testing, validation, monitoring, health checks, and failure handling</li><br/><li>Work with cloud technologies such as GCP, AWS, Azure, or comparable platforms</li><br/><li>Work with serverless functions, background jobs, schedulers, async workflows, or similar backend infrastructure</li><br/><li>Use AI development tools as a core part of your daily workflow</li><br/><li>Write clean, maintainable, testable backend code</li><br/></ul><br/>Requirements<br/><p>We care less about formal seniority and more about speed, intelligence, ownership, and reliability.
