This role will be responsible for supporting and developing the school's IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable technology services for staff and students, and acting as a key point of contact for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</p><p><br/></p><p>Working across a broad technology environment, you will provide hands-on infrastructure support while helping to deliver IT improvement initiatives, manage third-party suppliers, and contribute to the long-term technology strategy of the organisation.</p><p><br/></p><p>This position is well suited to a technically strong generalist who enjoys a varied role and is looking to develop their experience across infrastructure, project delivery, and IT operations.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong><u>Key Responsibilities</u></strong></p><ul><li>Support the separation and migration of IT services from a centralised trust environment to an independent school infrastructure.</li><li>Coordinate and manage activities delivered by external MSPs and third-party technology providers.</li><li>Provide 2nd line infrastructure and end-user support across a broad technology estate.</li><li>Assist with planning and executing cloud migration and infrastructure transition projects.</li><li>Maintain and support Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Windows Server, Intune, and endpoint management platforms.</li><li>Support network infrastructure including LAN, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and connectivity services.</li><li>Manage Windows 11 laptops, iPads, mobile device management (MDM), and end-user technology.</li><li>Liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders to coordinate maintenance windows, downtime, and project activities.</li><li>Contribute to IT budgeting, procurement activities, supplier management, and technology planning.</li><li>Support future MSP tender processes and vendor selection activities.</li><li>Document systems, processes, and operational procedures to ensure long-term sustainability and knowledge retention.</li><li>Act as the local technology representative and trusted advisor for school leadership teams.</li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong><u>Required Skills &amp; Experience</u></strong></p><p><strong>Technical Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Strong experience in a 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role.</li><li>Excellent knowledge of:</li><li>Microsoft 365</li><li>Microsoft Azure</li><li>Active Directory</li><li>Windows Server environments</li><li>Intune and Mobile Device Management (MDM)</li><li>Windows 11 endpoint management</li><li>Apple iPad administration</li><li>Strong networking knowledge including:</li><li>LAN/WAN technologies</li><li>Network switching</li><li>Firewalls</li><li>Wireless networking</li><li>Experience supporting virtualised server environments.</li><li>Experience delivering cloud migration or infrastructure transformation projects.</li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>Operational &amp; Leadership Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Experience managing relationships with MSPs, ISPs, and technology vendors.</li><li>Strong project coordination and project management capabilities.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li><li>Experience coordinating change activities with minimal disruption to end users.</li><li>Exposure to budgeting, procurement, supplier management, or service delivery management is highly desirable.</li><li>Interest in progressing towards IT management or technology leadership responsibilities.</li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>Desirable Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Previous experience working within the education sector, schools, colleges, or universities.</li><li>Experience supporting multi-site environments.</li><li>Knowledge of IT service management frameworks and operational governance.</li><li>Experience participating in technology procurement or tender exercises.</li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>Candidate Profile</strong></p><p>We are looking for a proactive and adaptable infrastructure professional who enjoys working across a broad technology landscape rather than specialising in a single area.
