neoBIM is a cutting‑edge startup transforming the construction industry with AI‑powered Building Information Modeling (BIM). Co‑founded by industry pioneers, the company is on a mission to make BIM smarter, faster and more collaborative. With a growing team, neoBIM offers an innovative work environment, a flexible culture and the chance to work on impactful global projects.

We're hiring our founding designer to own the look, feel, and design system of the product from day one — and to do it in a way that's collapsing the old design-to-handoff pipeline.

How we think about design here

The traditional loop is: design in Figma → hand off → engineers translate to code → drift sets in → repeat. We don't want that. Tools like Claude now let designers express intent directly in code, working in the real design system instead of a mirror of it. So the only translation step left is designer-code → production-code — far closer, far less lossy.

We're not dogmatic about never opening a canvas to think. But the designer we want is someone who reaches for code as their primary medium and treats the running product as the source of truth.

Tasks

Define and build our design system in code, using shadcn/ui as the foundation — tokens, variants, modes, responsive behaviour, accessibility

Prototype directly in code with AI assistance (Claude), so what you "design" is already buildable and lives in the codebase

Design the entire product surface — from the 3D canvas and viewport controls to property panels, dashboards, and onboarding flows

Own iconography and illustration: either craft our icon set and product illustrations yourself, or art-direct freelancers to deliver a consistent, high-quality visual language

Work in a tight loop with engineers, where "handoff" mostly means a code review, not a translation

Shape the brand and marketing surface as the company grows

Requirements

This role is for a designer who thinks in systems, understands software constraints, and can reason about 3D interaction — so what you ship is buildable, native to the medium, and not just pretty in a mockup. Specifically:

You work in code (HTML/CSS/React) and are comfortable using tools like Claude or similar tools to turn ideas into a working UI. You don't need to be an engineer, but the terminal and a component file don't scare you

You have experience designing for 3D, spatial, or canvas-based software — a tool you've shipped, a serious side project, or deep experience using Blender, Rhino, SketchUp, Cinema 4D, Spline, or a game engine. You understand viewport controls, gizmos, camera behaviour, and the seam between 2D UI and a live 3D scene

You've designed with shadcn/ui and understand how its tokens, variants, and primitives compose

You have a strong icon and illustration eye — you can either produce this work or direct freelancers to a consistent result, and you know what good looks like

You design with light/dark mode and responsiveness from the start, not as an afterthought

Benefits

Founding-level ownership of design at a well-backed startup with a credible founding team in the AEC/3D space

Competitive salary

Direct access to the founders, no design-by-committee, no layers between you and the work

The chance to define how a category of professional 3D tooling looks and feels for the next decade

Access to World-Class Infrastructure

A Culture of Deep Tech and Real-World Application

Flexibility with remote first work enviroment and a great team that shapes the future

How to apply

1. Your portfolio (links to live Figma files preferred over static images — we want to see how you build, not just what you ship)

2. One example where you set up or significantly contributed to a design system, ideally one that used shadcn or a similar token-based component library

3. A short note on a 3D, CAD, or technical tool whose UI you admire — and what specifically makes it good

For any questions regarding this position, feel free to contact Felix directly via phone or messenger at +49 1769 54222094.
