By combining AI-driven fieldwork with human oversight, Clark enables faster, higher-quality audits and allows CPAs to spend more time on the strategic, analytical work they originally entered the profession to do.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Role Description</strong> As a Founding AI Engineer at Clark, you will design, build, and deploy core AI systems that power Ava, our collaborative audit agent, in a full-time, on-site role based in Heidelberg, Germany. </p><p><br/></p><p>You will work closely with product, engineering, and domain experts to architect and implement machine learning models, develop NLP-driven features, and integrate neural network-based solutions into production software. Day-to-day responsibilities include prototyping and evaluating new AI approaches, implementing robust data pipelines, improving model performance, and ensuring system reliability and scalability. You will contribute to the broader engineering stack, participate in code reviews, and help shape technical standards, documentation, and best practices in a fast-moving, early-stage environment. As a founding team member, you will have significant influence on Clark’s technical roadmap and culture, and will help mentor future hires as the team grows.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.</li><li>Experience with Neural Networks and Pattern Recognition, including designing, training, and evaluating modern ML architectures.</li><li>Hands-on expertise in Software Development, preferably in Python or similar languages used for production ML systems.</li><li>Practical experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), such as language models, text classification, or information extraction.</li><li>Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.</li><li>Experience deploying ML models to production environments, including use of cloud platforms, containers, and CI/CD workflows.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, and comfort operating in an early-stage startup setting.</li><li>Familiarity with financial services, audit, or accounting workflows is a plus, as is prior experience at a high-growth technology company.</li></ul> </div>
